Awards will be given in the categories of Community Pride, Packaging Recycling, Energy Conservation, Water Conservation, Resource Conservation, Protection of the Environment, Sustainable Buildings and Gardens, Sustainable Transport and Sustainable Schools.
SEE-Change meeting in Aranda Primary School
SEE-Change, the sustainability and change organisation that presented at the June Community Forum, is holding a public meeting.
The Jamison Climate Change Public Meeting will be held at:
Sunday 5 August, 2pm
Aranda Primary School Hall
The meeting expects to present ecological footprint information from households with students attending the Lake Ginninderra and Hawker colleges.
Request for Submissions: Inquiry into ACTION buses
UPDATE 2: The final submission is now available for download.
UPDATE: There has been a strong response from Belconnen residents to our request -- over 25 submissions to sift through! Further information will be provided once the submission is complete. Many thanks to all those who responded.
The Belconnen Community Council is requesting stories from members of the public about their use of public transport. These stories will form the basis of a submission by the BCC to the ACT government’s Inquiry into ACTION buses.
Earth Day 2007, Sunday 22 April
The Ginninderra Catchment Group, Conservation Volunteers Australia and Territory and Municipal Services invites Belconnen residents to do something good for the Earth (and fun for you) by joining in with Earth Day 2007.
Celebrate Earth Day by lending a hand to enhance the McKellar Wetlands. They will be following up on previous work at the wetlands, by planting a variety of native grasses and semi-aquatic plants along the 'frog highway'.
Anyone wishing to participate can come any time between 9:30 and 3:00 - stay all day or just for an hour or so. Lunch will be provided.
The McKellar Wetlands are accessed via Jeanne Young Cct in 'the New McKellar'. For more information, contact the Ginninderra Catchment Group on 6278 3309 or waterwatch@ginninderralandcare.org.au.
