Woodsmoke
Hi Shirley
For your and the BCC's information attached is the TCC submission on woodsmoke. I represented BCC at the meeting chaired by the Department of the Environment, Climate Change, Energy and Water on woodsmoke. At that meeting I stated that while Tuggeranong had particular problems associated with their topography, woodsmoke was a wide-ranging problem and hence BCC supported the broad thrust of TCC's presentation (which was less detailed than their attached submission).
If BCC agrees I would like a TCC supportive statement to be sent to David Power and a copy cc'd to Darryl Johnston. The supportive statement could be along the lines of: "While we are aware that Tuggeranong has particular problems associated with their topography, woodsmoke is a wide-ranging problem for those with breathing difficulties and other health impairments and hence BCC supported the broad thrust of TCC's submission".

April 2008 Community Forum
The April 2008 Community Forum will be held at:
7.00pm, Tuesday 15 April 2008
Community Room, upstairs Belconnen Library
Chandler Street, Belconnen
Please note the start time of 7:00pm. The earlier start time is to allow proper coverage of two very important topics, the Belconnen Arts Centre and the development of the replacement Belconnen Bus Interchange.
Both topics at this April meeting are very important to the future of Belconnen. However, since they are quite different topics, we will be running them as self-contained meetings. This way, people who only wish to attend one of the two presentations can do so.
Future Uses for Former School Sites
The ACT Government is consulting the community on the possible future uses of school sites that were closed at the end or 2006 or are to be closed over the next few years.
Purdon Associates has been appointed to co-ordinate the consultation process, which will run from late September 2007 to early December 2007.
This consultation process will be conducted in two broad stages:
- Options Workshops to be held in Tuggeranong, Belconnen and Woden/Weston Creek.
- A series of local community information sessions.
Public Meeting: A Future for our Albert Hall
The Friends of the Albert Hall are holding a historic public meeting on the future of the Albert Hall on 24 May 2007 at 5:30pm.
The meeting is for all people who are concerned about the NCA and ACT Government's plans on the conservation of Albert Hall and retaining adequate access for community groups.
The forum aims to facilitate discussion, ideas, and information from community groups, experts, federal parliamentarians and ACT officials about the Albert Hall precinct.
Refreshments will be provided and the Bush Dancers Display Group and the Bordonian Heritage Dancers will perform.
