The 2009 ToiletSmart program has been extended.

The program which was scheduled to close 30 June 2009 has now been extended.

The 2009 ToiletSmart program assists ACT residential property owners to replace single flush toilets with four-star, water efficient 4.5/3 litre dual flush toilets.

Replacing an 11 litre single flush toilet suite with a four-star dual flush toilet, which uses just 4.5 litres for a full flush and 3 litres for the half flush, will result in a saving of 6.5 to 8 litres of water per flush. Over one year, this could add up to a saving of around 36,600 litres of water for an average Canberra household of between 2 to 3 people.

The ToiletSmart program is being delivered through a partnership between the ACT Government, Caroma Dorf and the Master Plumbers Association (MPA) ACT. The MPA will take program registrations, and arrange the supply and installation of the selected toilet suites by licensed plumbers.

This program is only available to ACT homeowners for residential properties connected to ACTEW Corporation's water supply network.

The following Caroma toilet suites are available through the ToiletSmart program, subject to the program's terms and conditions (110kb pdf).

•Caroma Slimline Connector Suite: $ 390
•Caroma Profile 4 Connector Suite: $ 475
•Caroma Profile 4 Deluxe Close Coupled Suite: $ 615
•Fowler Newport Wall faced Suite: $898

The prices shown are after the $100 ACT Government rebate has been applied, and include the cost of the toilet suite, the standard installation service and GST. Where a non-standard installation is required, any additional charges will need to be met by the ToiletSmart participant. A maximum of two rebates may be claimed per metered premises.

To be eligible for the ACT Government rebate, the new dual flush toilet suite must be supplied and installed by a fully-licensed Master Plumbers Association ACT plumber participating in the delivery of the ToiletSmart program.

For a limited time, a special Pensioner Concession Card holder offer is also available. While this offer is available, Pensioner Concession Card holders are eligible to apply for the installation of the Caroma Slimline Connector Suite model for free (normally $390 after the ACT Government rebate). There is a limit of one free toilet suite per eligible household.
