SIGNIFICANT CHANGES TO BELCONNEN TOWN CENTRE
Over the next two years, a $124 million facelift will be made to the Belconnen Town Centre giving people better access to the shopping mall, simpler bus routes and easier pedestrian access to the town centre.
Over the next 18 months, significant construction in Belconnen Town Centre will create:
- New shops and car parking fronting Lathlain Street. Westfield Belconnen's extension also includes a new bus station that connects directly to the cinema and other entertainment, shops and services in level three of the Mall.
- Temporary bus stations will be located on Cohen Street, Lathlain Street and Cameron Avenue. These bus stations will provide connections to all bus routes passing through the Belconnen Town Centre.
- An extension of Cohen Street from its intersection with Lathlain Street through to Benjamin Way.
The project will improve access through the Town Centre for cars, cyclists, pedestrians and bus passengers, but this won’t happen immediately. During the main construction period between June 2009 and October 2010 the community will be asked to adapt to some significant changes that include:
Temporary bus stops
From the end of May 2009 buses will no longer run through the Belconnen interchange. Instead all buses will stop at temporary bus stations on Cameron Avenue adjacent to the Australian Taxation Office and on Lathlain Street adjacent to Magnet Mart. All buses will also run through to the new "western terminus" that is being built next to the ACTION bus depot in Cohen Street.
Traffic signals
To improve the flow of cars and buses and to help with pedestrian safety, new traffic signals are being installed at the intersections of:
- Emu Bank and Benjamin Way
- Emu Bank and Eastern Valley Way
- Nettlefold Street with Cohen Street
- Cohen Street with Josephson Street
- Cohen Street with Lathlain Street.
Joynton Smith Drive
From approximately June 2009, Joynton Smith Drive will continue to provide access to car parks from both Emu Bank and Benjamin Way. However the section of road adjacent to the Mall's western car park will be closed to through traffic. This is required to allow Westfield's extension to Lathlain Street to be constructed.
"Red pedestrian bridge"
During most of the construction period the "red bridge" will continue to provide pedestrian access to level three of the Mall. However, for a period of about four weeks in July /August 2009 the bridge will be closed to the public while it is relocated. Alternative pedestrian access will be available during this time.
Churches Centre pedestrian bridge
In about July 2009, the pedestrian bridge between the Churches Centre and Westfield's car park will be demolished and replaced. There will be a period of two or three months when the Churches Centre level one link is out of commission. Alternative pedestrian access will also be available during this time.
Car parking
Westfield Belconnen's extension will increase the number of available parking spaces; however there will be some disruption to parking during the construction period.

Congratulations on having one of the most sophisticated blogs Ive come across in some time! Its just incredible how much you can take away from something simply because of how visually beautiful it is. Youve put together a great blog space --great graphics, videos, layout. This is definitely a must-see blog! Its like you read my mind! You seem to know so much about seo solutions, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you could do with some pics to drive the message home a bit, but other than that, this is great blog. A great read. Ill definitely be back.

I think the centre is such a great place. I think the design of it is so good. This is going to be a nice place to visit.
Hi
Belconnen Town Centre contains several Federal and Territory government departments, as well as retail and commercial facilities. A large Westfield shopping mall is located within the centre as are many other smaller retail outlets including the Belconnen fresh food markets. The centre also contains several car dealerships

The brochure "Belconnen Town Centre Improvements" states that Belco ... Thanks for the brochure. I was disappointed that it didn't have a map of the changes connections to all bus routes passing through the Belconnen Town Centre but feel free to send us through your photos of Belconnen Interchange to Looking at the map, someone should tell ACTPLA it’s the Labor club, with business mind business management And seeing Margaret Timpson park got me thinking how much the families of people who have parks named after them would appreciate the scraggly dustbowls that they have become.

Jack,
Every Town should get a facelift
There is nothing more exciting or more invigorating, then when the town that you know and love gets updated. Some people don't like the fact that things are changing, but change is good.
Just recently there have been major changes to my city landscape. They decided to take a part of the city and turn it into a beautiful park. There are picnic areas, volleyball courts, and even a little skate park for the kids. My favorite addition is where they installed a bunch of outdoor hammocks under some big oak trees for people to relax in. I have never seen this in a park before, and I was really excited.
I am sure to be there a lot more often.

BELCONNEN TOWN CENTRE
The reputation of a town depends on the amenities; it serves to its people. Belconnen’s extension will surely help the dwellers to get all the possible comfort at their door steps. The shopping malls are the places which make the people enable to shop all the desired stuffs under one roof.
----------------------------------------
Adding so much... what about relaxation?
This seems like it is all necessary and normal to the development of a town center. I am really excited about the fact that it is going to give cyclists better access to the town center. I know as a cyclist myself that there are times when I am scared to go through a town center. I am hoping that this will be one town center that I won't have to avoid.

Belconnel Town Center is
Belconnel Town Center is developing very fast. Very important changes are taking place in the town center. The bus route had changed for that temporarily and had to bear with it for some months. The signals which were proposed to install on intersections of the road were very much necessary. The increased car parking space is of great advantage due to this change.
